Transport of modular homes, containers and cabins

A house or office module is often more than 3 m wide, well above the 2.55 m allowed without a permit. We transport modules, containers and technical cabins on low-deck trailers, with a permit and an escort, and coordinate the crane for installation.

What we transport

We work with modular building manufacturers, container rental companies and customers moving their own house or cabin.

  • modular homes and prefabricated timber or steel modules;
  • office, sanitary and accommodation containers;
  • technical cabins, transformer stations and equipment containers;
  • modules for site facilities, temporary schools or clinics;
  • precast swimming pools and tanks;
  • special shipping containers, open top or flat rack, loaded out of gauge.

Width decides how the module travels

With modules, width is usually the critical dimension. Up to 2.55 m, the module travels without a permit. Over 2.55 m a special permit is needed, over 3.20 m also an escort vehicle, over 4.50 m two, and over 5 m the Traffic Police as well.

We control the height through the trailer: a 3 m high module on a standard flatbed goes over 4 m, but on a low deck it can stay below the limit.

How we protect the module

A finished module has windows, cladding and installations that cannot take knocks. It is lashed only at the points specified by the manufacturer, the edges are protected where the straps run, and lifting is done with spreader beams that do not press on the walls.

We recommend photographing the module at loading and unloading: it is the simplest way to document its condition.

Delivery and installation

Access is often the hard part: narrow streets, trees, cables, small yards. We check access before the transport, decide where the crane will stand and schedule the delivery, so that the module goes straight from the truck onto the foundation.

Questions about transporting modules

Do I need a permit for a 3.5 m wide modular home?

Yes. Over 2.55 m a special transport permit is needed, and at 3.5 m width the transport must also be preceded by an escort vehicle.

Can you deliver to a residential area?

Yes, after we check access and local restrictions. In some towns, heavy trucks are only allowed at certain times or with approval from the town hall.

Do you also arrange the crane?

Yes. We book the mobile crane suited to the weight of the module and the distance to the foundation.

How big can a module be?

There is no fixed limit, but each width threshold adds costs: escort, police, time windows. If you design the modules, ask us before production: sometimes a few centimetres less means a much cheaper transport.

Do you have modules or containers to deliver?

Tell us what we are moving, from where and to where. We send you a tailored quote, for most requests in under 30 minutes during office hours.
