Oversize transport Netherlands – Romania

The Netherlands is one of the most important used machinery markets in Europe, and the port of Rotterdam is the gateway for much of the equipment arriving from overseas. We organise oversize transport from the Netherlands to Romania and back, with the Dutch exemption, the required escort and the permits for the transit countries.

What we transport between the Netherlands and Romania

From the Netherlands we mainly bring:

  • used machinery from dealers and machinery auction houses;
  • equipment arriving by sea at the port of Rotterdam;
  • agricultural and construction machinery;
  • industrial equipment and structures;
  • transports to the United Kingdom, by ferry.

Permits in the Netherlands

In the Netherlands, a transport that exceeds the legal limits travels with an exemption (“ontheffing”) issued by the RDW, the Dutch vehicle authority. The exemption sets the travel conditions and, for large transports, the permitted routes.

Escort

Large transports are escorted by certified abnormal load escorts, who can direct traffic in certain situations, or, for very large transports, by the police. The Dutch network has many bridges, roundabouts and local restrictions, so we check the route all the way to the final address.

The route and the ports

The route to Romania usually goes through Germany, Austria and Hungary. For equipment arriving by sea from outside Europe, we can collect the cargo directly from the port of Rotterdam and bring it by road to Romania, or combine the transport with a sea route to Constanța. What to send us for a quote

Within the European Union there are no customs formalities, but every country on the route requires its own oversize transport permit.

  • the dimensions and weight of the load, from the data sheet;
  • the exact loading and unloading addresses;
  • the preferred date and how flexible it is;
  • who handles the loading and unloading (crane, ramp);
  • the delivery terms (Incoterms), if you know them;
  • a photo or a drawing of the cargo.
