International oversize transport in Europe
We bring in and send out oversize loads between Romania and the rest of Europe, across the whole European Union, plus the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Turkey, Serbia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. A transport from Germany usually crosses Austria and Hungary, and each country has its own permits, limits and escort rules. We obtain the permits for the whole route and synchronise the escort at every border.

How an oversize transport through several countries works
Each country has its own permit
There is no single European permit. A transport from Germany to Romania needs permits in Germany, in each transit country and an AST in Romania.
The slowest permit sets the departure date
The transport leaves only after we have all the permits, so that it does not wait at any border. Lead times differ a lot from one country to another.
Escort thresholds differ
In Romania, escort starts above 3.20 m width, in Poland pilot vehicles also above 3.2 m, while France works with three categories. The escort vehicles can change at each border.
So do driving bans
Austria stops heavy trucks from Saturday afternoon, Germany on Sundays, Switzerland at night and on Sundays. We plan the time of entry into each country.
The route is decided by the permits, not just by distance
Sometimes the longer route is faster, because it passes through countries with shorter permit lead times or avoids bridges with restrictions.
A single coordinator
You have a single point of contact for the whole route: permits, escort, changes at the borders and updates on the road.
Where transports enter Romania
Since 2025, Romania has been fully part of the Schengen area, so there are no longer border checks at the borders with Hungary and Bulgaria. Permits for oversize transport, however, remain mandatory in every country.
| Direction | Border crossing points |
|---|---|
| Hungary and Western Europe | Nădlac II (A1), Borș II (A3) |
| Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey | Giurgiu–Ruse, Calafat–Vidin; in Dobrogea, Negru Vodă–Kardam and Vama Veche–Durankulak |
| Serbia | Moravița–Vatin, Iron Gates I |
| Ukraine | Siret–Porubne, Halmeu–Diakove |
| Republic of Moldova | Albița–Leușeni, Sculeni, Galați–Giurgiulești |
| By sea | the Port of Constanța and the RO-RO terminal at Agigea |
The right crossing point is chosen according to the route approved in the permits, not just by distance.
EU and non-EU countries
Within the European Union there are no customs formalities: the transport travels with the CMR, the cargo documents and the oversize transport permits from each country.
For Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Serbia, Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, customs is added: the export or import declaration, transit under customs control (NCTS) and, for some countries, bilateral or ECMT transport permits.
By sea and on the Danube
For very large or very heavy loads, part of the journey can be made on water: by sea to Constanța or on the Danube, by barge, to near the destination.
Documents for an international transport
Permit lead times differ a lot from one country to another. On some routes the permits come in a few days; for very large loads they can take several weeks. In the quote we tell you the realistic lead time for your route.
- the CMR consignment note;
- the oversize transport permits for every country on the route;
- the cargo documents (invoice, packing list) and, for non-EU countries, the customs declarations;
- the data sheet of the machine or equipment, for the declared dimensions and weights.

Questions about international oversize transport
Do you obtain the permits for all the countries on the route?
Yes. We handle the permits and the escort required in every transit country, not just in Romania.
Is there a single European permit for oversize transport?
No. Each country issues its own permits, according to its own rules. That is why a transport through several countries is planned around the permit that comes last.
Can you bring a machine bought at an auction in Germany or the Netherlands?
Yes. We collect the machine from the seller or from the auction house's yard and bring it to your address. Send us the link to the listing or the data sheet, so we can check the dimensions.
Do you also work with Turkey, Ukraine or the United Kingdom?
Yes. For countries outside the European Union, besides the transport permits, we also prepare the customs formalities.
What insurance does the cargo have on an international transport?
CMR insurance is included on every transport. For high-value equipment we can add all-risk insurance on request.
