Oversize transport Turkey – Romania

Turkey produces steel structures, industrial equipment and energy components that often end up in projects in Romania. An oversize transport from Turkey passes through Bulgaria and through customs, so we prepare the Turkish permits, the transit permits and the customs documents before departure.

What we transport between Turkey and Romania

From Turkey we mainly transport:

  • steel structures and hall elements;
  • industrial equipment and machinery;
  • energy components;
  • tanks and equipment for industry;
  • in the opposite direction, equipment and structures from Romania.

Permits in Turkey

In Turkey, indivisible loads exceeding the legal limits (“özel yük”) travel only with a road document issued by KGM, the General Directorate of Highways. KGM places the transport in a category, sets the final route and the conditions, and charges a road use fee, paid when the application is submitted. For traffic safety, the permit may require escort vehicles.

Customs and transport permits

Turkey is part of the customs union with the EU for industrial products, but the transport still goes through customs: export declaration, transit and, for goods in free circulation, the A.TR movement certificate. Trucks also need bilateral or ECMT transport permits.

Foreign-registered vehicles pay motorway and bridge tolls through the Turkish system; under recent rules, unpaid charges are checked when leaving the country.

The route

The route goes through Bulgaria, entering Turkey usually at Kapitan Andreevo–Kapıkule. For very large loads, the sea route via Constanța can be simpler than crossing Bulgaria.

What to send us for a quote

For countries outside the European Union we add the customs documents: the export or import declaration, the transit document and, where applicable, the bilateral transport permits.

  • the dimensions and weight of the load, from the data sheet;
  • the exact loading and unloading addresses;
  • the preferred date and how flexible it is;
  • who handles the loading and unloading (crane, ramp);
  • the delivery terms (Incoterms), if you know them;
  • a photo or a drawing of the cargo.
